Praying through 1 Peter: Tuesday

  • Pray that we would grow in our yearning and love for God's Word, the pure milk by which we grow up to salvation, and that through the Word we would taste and see that God is good (2:1-3)
  • Pray that as a church, the individual members of Christ's Body would be built up together into a spiritual house, worshiping God acceptably through Jesus; that our lives would be increasingly knit together in love and interdepent on one another for our fullest growth in Jesus (2:4-5)
  • Pray that Jesus would be precious to His people, that we would love and treasure Him above all things (2:6-7)
  • Praise God for His mercy in calling you out of darkness and making you a part of His chosen people (2:9-10)
  • Pray that we would be faithful in our calling to be His witnesses, proclaiming His excellencies both in word and deed; by speaking the good news of Jesus, and living a life of freedom from sin and filled with good works that would bring Him glory in all things (2:11-12)
  • Pray specifically for those who have gone out from our Body to bring the good news to those areas of the world where the name of Jesus is not known, and for those in our Body serving in the Compassion Ministry, who are bearing witness in word and deed to families in material need in Pitman and Glassboro.
  • Pray for those in positions of governmental authority, to be converted to faith in Christ, to make God-glorifying decisions, and for us as citizens to be respectful and servant-hearted, even when we don't agree with their policies or decisions (2:13-17)
  • Pray for our witness in our various vocations; that in the workplace, we might live in a way that represents our Savior and King well, and that we would embrace suffering when it comes, and follow in Jesus' steps of humble submission to our Father's will (2:18-25)
