The 4 G's

In his book You Can Change, Tim Chester highlights four life-changing truths which underlie our struggles with sin:
1. God is great...so I don't have to be in control.
2. God is glorious...so I don't have to fear others.
3. God is good...so I don't have to look elsewhere.
4. God is gracious...so I don't have to prove myself.
As you look back on the past week, can you identify an area of your life where you have seen a struggle with sin? Any anxiety or fear? Any bitterness or frustration? Any anything that you're not too happy about, and that you know isn't very pleasing or honoring to God?
Take that struggle and think through the 4 G's. Which one are you failing to believe in the midst of that struggle? Now ask God to forgive you for your unbelief, rejoice in His provision of forgiveness through Jesus, and set your mind on Scriptures that will help you to remember that truth about God which you need to embrace anew.
"If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32). Praise God, through Jesus we are free indeed (John 8:36)! May a fresh sight of God's glory in Christ free you today from the fleeting pleasures of sin.
